Edna Bugner

Services for Edna Bugner, 94, of Groton will be 2:00pm, Friday, August 10th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com

Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Thursday and will continue prior to services at the church on Friday.

Edna passed away August 06, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Groton.

Edna was born on March 16, 1914 in Rochester, MN to Paul and Hannah (Rosenow) Rose, the youngest of seven children. She attended country school and received high marks, being an excellent student. Upon completion of her grade school education, she wanted to continue on to high school by correspondence. Her hope of attending college and becoming a school teacher was destroyed by the hard financial times of the depression. On October 29, 1930 she united in marriage with Oscar E. Stange and together they adopted a son, Wayne. Oscar passed away in December of 1959. Edna continued to make her home in Groton and married Ernest H Bugner on February 17, 1963. He passed away in November of 1989.

Edna was an avid reader until she lost her eyesight and also loved playing the mandolin and guitar. Being conversant in English and German, she sang in the church and German choirs. In earlier years, she belonged to the Garden Club and enjoyed traveling. Her love of learning was instrumental in establishing her scholarship fund in 2005.

Edna is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Oscar Stange and Ernest Bugner, her son, Wayne Stange, four brothers; Bernhardt Rose, Edwin Rose, Arthur Rose, Emil Rose, and two sisters; Adeline Miles and Margaret Siek.

Casketbearers will be Ben Schaller, Bill Schuelke, Duane Neumann, Richard Kolker and Jerry Miles.
