Memorial services for Lawrence Dolney, 76, of Andover will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 23rd at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Father Mike Kelly will officiate. Inurnment will follow at a later date. There will be one hour of visitation prior to services on Tuesday.
Lawrence passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Sun Dial Manor, Bristol.
Lawrence Albert was born on November 24, 1942 in Britton to Edward and Rose (Ozlowski) Dolney. He attended Sisseton #1 County School and later joined the National Guard. Lawrence spent some time in Alaska during his service and was honorably discharged. He spent his working years as a grain elevator operator, working at Hub City Feed, Groton Farmer’s Elevator and later SD Wheat Growers. He was an incredibly hard worker and was admired by his colleagues.
Lawrence had a love for collecting farm toys, and had over 200 of them. He and Dominic enjoyed traveling to farm shows and antique tractor shows all over the United States. Lawrence was also very active in the James Valley Threshing Club, spending many hours on the grounds. He created many wood carving for both family and friends to be displayed in their lawns
Celebrating his life are his siblings: Mary Ann (Delmar) Wahl of Aberdeen, Rita (Robert) Loterbauer of Bristol, James (Judy) Dolney of Blaine, MN, Ramona (Ken) Strohfus of Aberdeen, Leonard (Pam) Dolney of Cleveland, TX, Alyce Gilbert of Burnsville, MN, Robert (Joni) Dolney of Bristol and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Honorary Urnbearers will be his nephews, nieces and close friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 4 brothers and two sisters.
