Marjorie McKiver Obituary

Services for Marjorie McKiver, 88, of Groton will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 30th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Tuesday and will continue at the church prior to services.

Marjorie passed away May 28, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Groton.

Marjorie Jane Fritz was born on March 27, 1919 to William and Mae (Plummer) Fritz in Bath. She attended school in Bath and graduated from Bath High School. Marj continued her education at Huron Commercial College, where she studied business. On October 18, 1942, she united in marriage with Dale McKiver and together they made their home on a farm near Groton. Following his death in May of 1996, Marjorie moved into Groton where she resided until her death.

Marjorie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton and its Ladies Aid Group. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Good Cheer Circle. Marj enjoyed baking, embroidering, crocheting and playing bingo. She spent countless hours volunteering within the community and will be missed by those whom she helped.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Allen (Sherry) McKiver of Groton, Sharon (Larry) Sombke of Groton, Nancy (Merle) Walter of Arlington, Bill McKiver of Groton, Jake (Renee) McKiver of Groton, Gloria (Bernie) Huber of Mound City, Carla Ronning of Groton, Gail (John) Zeck of Groton, one brother, Lyle (Mildred) Fritz of Bath, twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Dale, one infant son, Kenneth McKiver, her brother, Marland Fritz and sister, Georgia Ann Fritz.

Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Marjorie's friends.

Casketbearers will be her grandsons; Travis McKiver, Steven McKiver, Allen McKiver, Jr., Trevor Zeck, Clint Sombke and Blake Ronning.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
