Mavis Clark Obituary

Services for Mavis Clark, 80, of Aberdeen will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 4th at Hope Lutheran Church, Summit. Rev. Kevin O'Malley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summit City Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com

Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Friday and will continue two hours prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Mavis passed away July 31, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Mavis Fay Anderson was born on August 23, 1926 to Palmer and Nancy (Udseth) Anderson in White Rock, South Dakota. She united in marriage with Edwin Clark on March 11, 1944 in Webster and together they made their home on a farm north of Summit. Following her husbands death in 1983, she moved into Summit, residing there before moving to Groton and later Aberdeen.

Mavis enjoyed family picnics and gatherings, as well as traveling to visit family members. She also enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mavis loved all animals, especially cats and dogs and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Judy (Doug) Orton of Boise, Idaho, Linda Dobbins of Aberdeen, Robert Clark of Aberdeen, ten grandchildren; Tracey (Jack) Lowery, Tina (Paul) Kosel, Trixy Schwabe, Teresa (Ron) Lutz, Paula (Dean) Kramer, Perryn (Angela) Dobbins, Michelle (Jim) Orton, Bryan (Jennifer) Orton, Michael Orton, Deanna (Monte) Sample, nineteen great-grandchildren and three cousins; Ronald Clark, Darlene Gile, and Darrel Aten.

Casketbearers will be Gordon Berwald, Ronny Backman, Maynard Moen, Arnold Gleason, John LaBarr and Donny Backman.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and one brother, Harold Anderson.
