Services for Otto “Pete” Schinkel, 81, of Ferney will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 8th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ferney. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Pete passed away April 2, 2019 at Groton Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Otto Edward was born on November 10, 1937 in Groton to Otto C. and Emma B. (Ellingson) Schinkel. He attended school in Ferney and later began farming with his father and uncle. Pete was united in marriage with Betty Walker on October 27, 1978 in Watertown. Together they made their home in Ferney.
In his early years, Pete enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He also liked playing cards and watching westerns on television. He could be found many evenings driving around the countryside to look over the crops.
Celebrating his life is his wife of 40 years, Betty, of Ferney, his daughters, Barbara (Chris) Mullins of Fargo, Glenda (David) LaMee of Groton and his grandchildren: Cortney, Ashlee, Dustin, Mathieu and Josie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.
Casketbearers will be Dustin LaMee, Mathieu LaMee, John Ellingson, Terry Ellingson, Ryan Ball and John Schinkel.
