Services for Arlene Gibbs-Tiffany, 92, of Groton will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 13th at the First Presbyterian Church, Groton. Rev. Terry Kenny will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the chapel on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
Arlene passed away Monday, January 09, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Groton.
Arlene Ruth was born on February 13, 1919 in Groton to Angus & Gertrude (Chapin) McKiver. She attended school in Groton, graduating in 1937. On May 4, 1938 she was united in marriage with Clayton (Kelly) Gibbs and together they had two daughters. Arlene worked at High Grade Oil as a bookkeeper for over 35 years. She married Frank Pehoviack on January 15, 1982 and they made their home in Glendale, AZ. Together they traveled a lot, as Frank was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors. He also served as National President of the Naval Mine Warfare. Arlene later resided in Sun City, Arizona and was married to David Tiffany on April 7, 1995. Arlene returned to Groton in 2009 and resided at Rosewood Court.
Arlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Groton where she served as an elder, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. Arlene was active in Dakota Midland Auxiliary in Aberdeen.
Celebrating her life are her two daughters, Penny (Bob) VanKempen of Scottsdale, Arizona and Diane (Boyd) Barwin of Groton; six grandchildren, Kelly (Lori) Larsen of Martinez, Georgia, Kim (Dwight) Zerr of Groton, C. Scott (Kristi) Larsen of Groton, Jeremy (Bobbi) Paul of Pierre, Myla (Scot) Bushman and Robert (Julie) VanKempen, all of Arizona. Arlene is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and her sister, Janice Holland of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Preceding her in death were her three husbands, four sisters, Myrtle Fulcomer, Myla Grams, Jean McKiver and infant sister, Lila McKiver and her two brothers, Wallace McKiver and Donald McKiver.
Casketbearers will be Taylor Barragan, Tim Fliehs, Scott Larsen, Dwight Zerr, Jeremy Paul and Bob Gibbs.
