Services for Arlene Peterson, 72, of Conde will be 10:30am, Tuesday, August 19th at the United Methodist Church, Conde. Rev. Rob Moorlach will officiate. Burial will follow in the Conde Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held on Monday at the Conde United Methodist Church from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Arlene passed away August 15, 2008 from cancer at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Arlene Nathla Schaller was born on November 13, 1935 to William and Rachel (Knoll) Schaller in Groton, South Dakota. She attended country school for eight years and graduated from Groton High School in 1953. She worked at Woolworth's in Aberdeen and then at Harris Trust and Loan Bank in Chicago, Illinois. Arlene later moved to Minneapolis, and worked at First National Bank. On May 13, 1956, she united in marriage with James Peterson. He was in the 82nd Airborne stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The couple moved to Conde where they raised small grain and livestock. Arlene also worked for Jark Worlie Auction Services until last year.
Arlene was a member of the United Methodist Church, Conde and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, of Groton. Arlene enjoyed quilting, playing cards and attending plays, auctions and musical events.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Greg Peterson of Conde, Rita Peterson and her husband, Mike Nerland of Camas, Washington, one grandson; Nathan Nilson of Webster, three granddaughters; Krista Nerland of Eatonville, WA, Jessi Nerland of San Diego, CA, Shayna Nerland of Camas, WA, one great-granddaughter, Abbey Nilson of Webster. Arlene is also survived by her sisters, Myla Konkol of Steger, Illinois, Bonnie (Jerry) Larson of Groton, her brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Schaller of Bruce, Orville (Joyce) Schaller of Groton and Ben (Jean) Schaller of Groton and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers; Myron, Otho and Wally Schaller, and one infant brother and sister.
Casketbearers will be Brad Larson, Steve Schaller, Ron Frericks, Loren Schaller, Jim Bainer and Ron Seanor. Honorary Casketbearer will be Dennis Schaller.
