Services for Arthur Lange, 88, of Groton will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 13th at the United Methodist Church, Groton. Rev. Brian La Croix will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Art passed away April 9, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Arthur Emil Lange was born on November 21, 1921 in Lamberton, Minnesota to Carl and Elsie (Rudnick) Lange. He attended high school in Lamberton and welding classes in Duluth, Minnesota. Art married Dorothy Schilling in 1941 in Lamberton, Minnesota. He worked for several years as a welder before entering the US Navy. He served from 1943-1945 abroad the SS Cape Newenham as a Signalman 2nd Class in the Pacific Ocean. Following his discharge, he purchased a welding shop in Groton from Bill Paetznick and operated it until 1995. Art was united in marriage with Charlotte Troebst in 1961 in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Art also worked as a real estate broker for several years.
Art was a member of the United Methodist Church, Groton and had served as a trustee. For many years, he was in charge of the Men's Smorgasbord. Art also belonged to the American Legion Post #39, Masonic Lodge #65 and the Diana Chapter #83 of the Eastern Star. His hobbies included hunting, reading, listening to polka music, and enjoying his springer spaniels, Roy, Barney and Danny. Art also enjoyed making ornamental ironwork and make the outside ironwork at the United Methodist Church in Groton.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife, Charlotte, three daughters; Jill (John) Cross of Monticello, Minnesota, Kristi (Bill) Hickman of Loveland, Colorado, Yvonne Lange of Groton; his son, Dean of Minneapolis, Minnesota; six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Art is also survived by his brother, Ruben (Betty) Lange of Redwood Falls, Minnesota and his daughter-in-law, Huyen Lange of Dallas, Texas.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Dorothy, his son, Joseph, one granddaughter, Susie; three brothers, Ernest, Clarence and Edward; three sisters, Elizabeth Kratzke, Rosella Haggert and Leona Welsh and his nephew, Jim Lange.
Honorary Casketbearers will be all of his friends.
Casketbearers will be Dale Wolter, Harvey Fliehs, Sr., Edward Stauch, Roger Rix and David Blackman, Jr.
