Mass of Christian Burial for Berdeen Coody, 82, of Groton, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. Father David Janes will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the church from 4-8pm, Tuesday with a wake service at 7:00pm.
Berdeen passed away March 2, 2008 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Berdeen Lillian Dohman was born on March 31, 1925 in Eden, South Dakota to George and Agnes (Kriech) Dohman. She attended school in Andover and worked in Minneapolis following graduation. Berdeen later moved to Denver, and united in marriage with Winn Coody. The couple made their home in Denver. In the 1980's, Berdeen returned to South Dakota, living in Aberdeen.
Berdeen was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. While living in Aberdeen, she was active in Sacred Heart Altar Society and Adoration at St. Luke's Hospital. Berdeen enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared in her life is her daughter, Lisa Coody of St. Cloud, Minnesota, four grandchildren; Becky Coody, Matt Coody, Mike (Amanda) Coody, Steve Evans, one great-grandchild, Owen J. Coody, three brothers; Herbert (Catherine) Dohman of Sioux Falls, Les (Carol) Dohman of Groton, Richard (Lorraine) Dohman of Aberdeen, three sisters; Dorothy (John) Gerding of Littleton, Colorado, Elaine (Ray) Reinhardt of Stillwater, Minnesota, Mary Ann Thompson of Groton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her three brothers; William, Francis and Robert Dohman, two sisters; Elizabeth Marx and an infant sister, Margaret, her sister-in-law, Irene Dohman and brothers-in-law, Ed Marx and Darwin Thompson.
Casketbearers will be Terry Thompson, David Dohman, David Reinhardt, James Marx, Wayne Mardian and Adam Roemmick.
