Bette J. Prunty

Bette J. Prunty, 86, of Groton, SD died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Groton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Friday, Feb. 11 at St. Elizabeth-Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton with Fr. Mike Kelly officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be from 6-8 Thursday, Feb 10 at St. Elizabeth-Ann Seton Catholic Church with a Paryer Service at 7.

Elizabeth "Bette" Prunty was born on August 7, 1924 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Patrick & Josephine (Cogley) Murphy. She attended St. Mary's Elementary and Central High School in Aberdeen. She received a degree in accounting from Northern State College in Aberdeen and worked for 5 years at K.O. Lee Company.

She married Ed Prunty in 1950 when they moved to the farm on the edge of Brown County and lived there since 1950.

Grateful for having shared her life are four sons; Pat (Connie)Prunty of Dent, MN, Greg Prunty of Shrewsbury, PA, Bob Prunty of Florence, AZ, Paul Prunty of Escondido, CA, three daughters; Viki (Mark) Hillstrom of Jefferson City, MO, Ellen (Bob) Strawman of Bloomington, MN, Frances (Doug) Brooks of Hutchinson, MN, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one brother; Jim (Vivian) Murphy of Aberdeen, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, one brother; Lt. Thomas Murphy, and one daughter; Pam Lusardi.
