Services for Betty Lenling, 90, of Groton will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ferney. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Betty passed away August 11, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
A loving tribute to our loved one, Betty Lenling
Betty was born on February 23, 1920 to Roy & Juanita (Jefferies) Nash in Faulkton, SD. She attended grade school and High School in Northville, SD. Betty moved to Conde the summer of her senior year and graduated in 1938.
Betty married Berthold Lenling on June 15, 1940 at the West Hanson Parsonage in rural Groton. Betty and Berthold farmed their entire life. They retired in 1990 when they moved into Groton. Berthold passed away on June 10, 1991. Betty's life revolved around Faith, Family, and Friends. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, crocheting, and traveling.
Betty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church West Hanson and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ferney, Pleasant Hour Extension Club, Ladies Aide and LWML at both churches.
Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Sheldon (Rita) Lenling of Aberdeen, SD, three daughters, Carol (John) Stanger of Oak Park, IL, Charlene (Paul) Helmer of Gardner, KS, Corinne Hein of Darien, IL, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three sisters. Eileen Taylor of West Los Angeles, CA, Shirley Tennis of Conde, SD, and Sharon (Kenneth) Hildreth of Huntington Beach, CA
Her parents, husband, one granddaughter Sarah, three brothers, Austin, Gerald, and David, two sisters, Phyllis and Neva and one son-in-law Robert Hein preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons; John Stanger, Mike Lenling, Tim Helmer, David Lenling, Nathan Helmer and Sheldon Lenling.
