Bonnie Bloom, 79, of Faulkton, SD passed away April 20, 2022 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, SD. Family services will be held at a later date in Sumner, Iowa with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Faulkton City Cemetery.
Bonnie Kaye was born on October 31, 1942 in Arlington, South Dakota to Edwin and Clara Christensen. She attended grade school in Badger and graduated from Arlington High School in 1960. Bonnie continued her education at Stewart’s School of Hair Styling where she earned her Associate’s Degree. She was employed at several local area nursing and funeral homes as a hairdresser. On February 25, 1961, she united in marriage with Raymond LeRoy Bloom in Badger, SD. The couple made their home in various locations as Raymond was promoted through the Schwan’s Corporation.
Bonnie and Raymond were blessed with two children, Shelly and Jeff. She became a full-time homemaker and later enjoyed traveling with Raymond for his business seminars. After retiring form Schwans, Raymond and Bonnie moved to Faulkton, SD where they made their home and purchased the Faulkton Motel. After selling the business Bonnie worked at Bauer’s Super Value and the Cenex Station in Faulkton. In her earlier years, she was an excellent athlete and was active in softball, bowling and was also an avid golfer. Bonnie also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Faulkton.
Celebrating her life are her children, Shelly Lerew (Alan Strom) of Groton, Jeff (Julie) Bloom of Sumner, Iowa, six grandchildren: Lynsie (Dan) Wallace, Taylor Bloom, Ty (Jayde) Lerew, Tiffany Albertson, Tanner Allison (Braidyn Buhrow), Zoie Bloom and great-grandchildren: Carter, Lane, Brody and Addilyn and many Nieces and Nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 2016, two sisters, Mary (Jerry) Bohls & Norma (Clay) Cureton.
