Services for Burlene "Beany" Berg, 80, of Claremont will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 14th at the Claremont United Methodist Church. Rev. Ryan Mutzenberger will officiate. Burial will follow in Huffton Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel in Groton from 2-5 pm on Friday. Visitation will resume at 6:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Claremont. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.
Beany passed away February 10, 2009 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Burlene Mae Dwight was born on March 3, 1928 in Pierpont to Burton A. and Cora (Holland) Dwight. She attended school in Pierpont and Langford. She later enrolled in art classes at Northern State College.
In 1946, she married Marvin Dombrowe and three children were born to this union. They founded Bur Mar's Shoes in Aberdeen. She managed Bur Mar's Shoes for many years. She married Charles Berg on January 1, 1971 and together they made their home near Claremont.
Beany was elected Brown County Auditor and served in the position for 12 years before her retirement. She was a school board member and served on numerous other service boards.
In their retirement years, she and Charlie took great pride in their yard and garden. She opened her "Christmas Playhouse" and enjoyed sharing the holiday season with friends from surrounding area. She continued to enjoy politics and became an avid Twins fan.
Her family and friends were very important to her. Beany was an active member of United Methodist Women; Claremont Community Club; American Legion Auxiliary; Cheerful Chimes Extension Club; and was a member of the same bridge club for over 50 years. She loved sharing her homemade frozen fruit cups and banana bread.
Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband, Charles; her brother, Dale Dwight of Mesa, Arizona, her three children, Barney Dombrowe of Claremont; Darcey (Leo) Lesher of Claremont; Marva (Lon) Gellhaus of Groton; six grandchildren, Nathan Gellhaus; Alissa (Michael) Wells; Skye (Barb) Lesher; Lucas Lesher; Brooke Lesher; Katie Dombrowe; three great-grandchildren, Jada Dombrowe; Jackson Wells; Kaelyn Lesher; four step-children, Kathy (Jerry) Wetterlin of Glyndon, Minnesota; Richard (Karen) Berg of Clyde, Ohio; Cindy (Shawn) Zwack of Estelline; Debra (Jerome) Hansen of Mina; nine step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Honorary Casektbearers will be all of Beany's many friends.
Casketbearers will be Nathan Gellhaus, Alissa & Michael Wells, Skye & Barb Lesher, Lucas Lesher, Brooke Lesher and Katie Dombrowe.
