Services for Carroll Clocksene, 77, of Groton will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ferney. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Military honors will be provided by Groton American Legion Post #39.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Carroll passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Carroll Frederick Clocksene was born on October 7, 1933 in Groton to Lyle and Louise (Ehrenberg) Clocksene. He attended school in Groton, graduating in 1951. He enlisted in the US Navy and served from May of 1953 until March of 1957. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Groton and began farming. On September 5, 1965 he was united in marriage with Sandra Olson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Together they made their home near Groton. Along with farming, Carroll drove bus for the Groton Area School District for the past several years.
Carroll was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ferney and had served on the church board. He had also been active in the Feather & Fin Club, Groton American Legion Post #39 and on the East Hanson Township Board, Nicknamed "Clocky" by all of his friends; he enjoyed playing cards, taking trips with his family and attending his grandchildren's activities. Carroll also enjoyed helping his son-in-law, Roger each year with fall harvest. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, dad and grandpa.
Celebrating his life through memories is his wife, Sandy of Groton, two daughters, Michelle (Roger) Clemensen of Conde; Tricia (Todd) Vander Linden of Webster, four grandchildren, Logan & Shay Clemensen and Abby & Kelsey Vander Linden and his sister, Marilyn Clocksene of Groton.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Bus Drivers & Staff at Groton Area High School and the many children he drove for over the years.
Casketbearers will be Tom Paepke, Jim Oliver, Ben Schaller, Alan Strom, Loren Bahr and Bob McFarlane.
