Clarence passed away February 24, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Groton.

Clarence Burton Hannon was born on November 12, 1933 at the Hallwood farm south of Andover to James and Elsie (Hall) Hannon. Growing up he received his elementary education at the Bluebird #162 country school. He then attended Andover High School where he graduated in 1951. With the passing of his father in 1951, Clarence and his brother, Harvey took over farming with help from their uncles. On December 7, 1956, Clarence entered the US Army. He spent two years in Germany before his honorable discharge. He then returned to the family farm and continued farming with his brother for many years. Clarence married Ida Pietz on May 15, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Andover.

Clarence was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Andover, where he spent several years serving on the church board. He was a member of the Andover Corinthian Lodge, also holding office for several years and a Yelduz Shrine Temple member for over 50 years. Clarence served on the Day County Weed Board for 25 years, as well as the Andover Development and Andover Township Board. He was also a Golden Harvest Dealer for 15 years.

Clarence enjoyed the many years of farming side-by-side with his brother and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. He would always do whatever he could to lend a helping hand in the community. Clarence also had many great memories of his pheasant and deer hunting escapades.

Survivors include his wife, Ida of Andover; one son, Marvin (Pat) Hannon of Plymouth, Minnesota; one daughter, Pam (Grant) Meyer of Andover; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
