Dean Hinrichs Obituary

Services for Rae "Dean" Hinrichs, 86, of Claremont will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10th at the United Methodist Church, Claremont. Pastor Nancy Manning will officiate. Burial will follow in Huffton Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held at the chapel on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Dean passed away April 7, 2010 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.

Rae Dean Hinrichs was born on July 27, 1923 in rural Claremont to John and Mabel (Terry) Hinrichs. He attended school in Claremont, graduating in 1941. Dean worked for several area farmers until 1947, when he purchased a farm west of Claremont. On March 14, 1948, he united in marriage with Drucilla "Dewey" James at the Congregational Church in Houghton. Together they made their home on the farm, raising four children and sharing 62 years of married life together.

Dean was a member of the Claremont United Methodist Church. He also served on the South Detroit Township Board, Brown County School Board and was a 40 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Claremont. Dean enjoyed all types of sporting events and in earlier years, he had played amateur baseball. Dean also liked to hunt, collect International tractors and spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dean's hobbies were primarily following his children, grand children, and great grandchildren's sporting and academic activities. He was instrumental in teaching his kids and grandkids the basics in hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

Celebrating his life through memories is his wife, Drucilla; his son, John Douglas (Crys) Hinrichs of Claremont; two daughters, Doris (Ron) Anderson of Groton, DeeAnn (Wayne) Suther of Claremont, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Don (Marge) Hinrichs of Claremont and his daughter-in-law, Cathy Hinrichs.

Preceding him in death was his son, Dallas Hinrichs, one sister, Melrose Alberts, and three brothers, Terry, Jack and Max.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Sara Hinrichs, Amy Hinrichs, Jeff Scheel, Mike Taylor, Kayla Suther, Kelsey Deutsch, Cody Marzahn, Tigh Fliehs, Logan Scheel, Jack Hinrichs, Lauren Scheel, Jacob Scheel, Dylan Hinrichs, Vincent Taylor and Bennett Suther.

Casketbearers will be his grandchildren; Matthew Hinrichs, John Hinrichs, Adam Suther, Blake Anderson, Alex Suther, Taylor Anderson, Austin Suther, Heather Taylor, Shannon Scheel, Katie Anderson and Adrienne Fliehs.
