Douglas Kjornes Obituary

Douglas E. Kjornes age 70, of Watertown passed away March 9, 2013 at his home from a long battle of cancer with his family at his side. Memorial Services will be held at Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on March 17th at 2:00pm. Rev. Mark Brown will officiate. Burial will be held later this spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waverly.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Douglas Erving was born on November 4, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Wilfred and Eloise (Hanson) Kjornes. He was raised in the Pentecostal faith. Doug attended Washburn High School and later enlisted in the US Army in 1960. He completed the 101st Airborne course in 1963 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Doug served active duty in Germany from 1963 to 1966. Following his honorable discharge in 1969, he returned to Minnesota where he met him wife. On February 22, 1969 he was united in marriage with Donna Brandriet, Waverly, South Dakota and together they had five children. Doug worked for the Minnesota Water Dept and as a machinist at Northland Aluminum. Doug was a jack of all trades. He retired from First Christian Nursing Home, where he was a Supervisor of the Maintenance and Housekeeping. Doug and Donna retired and moved to their home on Lake Kampeska in Watertown, South Dakota in 2004.

Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife, Donna of Watertown, five children, Daniel (Angie) Kjornes of Minneapolis; Donald (Kayla) Kjornes of Winchendon, Mass.; Michelle Kjornes of Minneapolis; Cindy Kjornes of Watertown; Mark (Lindsey) Kjornes of Minneapolis, ten grandchildren, one great- grandchild, his mother, Eloise of Bloomington, two sisters, Winnie (Phil) Kope of Bloomington; Diane Blomberg of Edina his brother, Paul (Mary) Kjornes of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father, Wilfred E. Kjornes.

Honorary Urn Bearers will be his grandchildren: (Corrine, Anna), (David), Alexis, William, and Meredith), (Stacey, Alexander Douglas Kjornes), (Marcus, Matthew).
