Memorial services for Edward Neff, 70, of Claremont will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Private family burial will be held at Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Claremont.
Ed passed away November 07, 2009 at his home in Claremont.
Edward Robert Neff was born on February 5, 1939 in Aberdeen to Robert and Hazel (Kimball) Neff. He attended rural school graduating from Claremont High School in 1957. Ed enlisted in the National Guard and served for several years. On June 23, 1963 he was united in marriage with Janet Tullis in Groton and together they made their home in Claremont. Ed owned a service station in Claremont and later worked for Harms Oil Company, SD Wheat Growers and Brick Propane.
Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton and the Claremont American Legion. He was a collector of antique tractors and belonged to the James Valley Two Cylinder Club. He enjoyed gardening and sharing produce with friends and family. Ed had a love for animals and took care of many both in town and on the farm.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Janet; two children, John of Pierre and Jennifer (Walter II) Bauer of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Tayla and Seth Bauer and two sisters, Sandy Tullis of Groton and Marilyn Thoreson of Aberdeen.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother-in-law, Rusty Tullis.
