Edwin Scheid Obituary

Memorial Services for Edwin Scheid, 94, of Aberdeen will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13th at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Pastor Vicki Saude-Worthington will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Homer Cemetery, Pierpont at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Ed passed away May 9, 2010 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Edwin Scheid was born on September 9, 1915 in Gackle, North Dakota to Edward and Katharina (Lehr) Scheid. After Ed's schooling, he farmed with his father near Gackle for several years. In 1945, he entered the US Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Ed was a Tailor by profession and worked in Jamestown, Fargo and Osborn's Men's Store in Aberdeen. He was affectionately known as "Ed the Tailor" to those he served.

Ed was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, and was baptized there in August of 1978. At this same church, he united in marriage with Ardyce McBride on January 6, 1979. Together they moved to Tucson, Arizona in November of 1986 to make their home. While living there, Ed spent some time tailoring for the Dillard's store in Tucson. They returned to Aberdeen in 2003 and resided at Parkside Retirement Community.

Grateful for having shared in his life is his sister-in-law, Alvina Scheid of Jamestown, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Ardyce, his parents, four sisters, Ruth, Clara, Hulda, Elizabeth and two brothers, Arthur and Rudolph.
