Services for Elmer Herr, 86, of Aberdeen and formerly of Conde, will be 2:00pm, Monday at the Conde United Methodist Church. Pastor Jan Price will officiate. Masonic Rites will follow in the Conde Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel from 4-8pm on Sunday and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
Elmer passed away April 27, 2007 at Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.
Elmer Edward Herr was born on September 5, 1920 in Spink County to Edward and Gladys (Simmons) Herr. He attended country schools in Beotia Township and graduated from Conde High School. Elmer then enrolled in the Civil Conservation Corps at Sand Lake where he studied electronics. After his training, he returned to the family farm. Following his retirement, Elmer moved to the Aberdeen Living Center. He later resided at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol before becoming a resident at Mother Joseph Manor.
Elmer was a member of the United Methodist Church in Conde. He had a passion for electronics and enjoyed to fix things. In earlier years, he helped many neighbors with his welding and machine skills. Elmer was also active as a Mason and enjoyed bird watching.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his two sisters; Beverly McComsey of Aberdeen and Lila Olson of Groton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Ivan Herr and one sister, Darlene Madsen.
Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Elmer's nieces and nephews.
Casketbearers will be LeRoy McComsey, Jim McComsey, Ron Madsen, Allen Thornton, Roger Ball, Fred Fischbach, Janet Lehman and Judy Simmons.
