Mass of Christian Burial for Erdon Barrie, 90, of Conde will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28th at St. John's Catholic Church, Conde. Father William Osborn will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Erdon passed away December 22, 2010 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Erdon Joseph Barrie was born on February 28, 1920 to Armand & Annie (Mannie) Barrie. He grew up on a farm near Turton. On October 1, 1941, he married Nina Worlie. They lived on rented farms until 1955 when they purchased a farm near Conde. When he was caught up with his farm work, Erdon liked to go hunting and fishing. Together they enjoyed taking bus trips to many different states. They also went camping in their motor home on many fishing trips.
Erdon was Conde's Mayor for 20 years and also served as an assessor for Turton Township. He was a weather reporter for Aberdeen for 20 years, as well.
Celebrating his life is his wife, Nina of Aberdeen, formerly of Conde; his brother, Rolland (Charlene) Barrie of Turton; his sister, Vivian Rusch of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and special nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Orville.
