Services for Floyd Smith, 90, of Conde will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21st at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Pastor Brandon Dunham will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday.
Floyd passed away May 13, 2022 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.
Floyd Allen was born on November 24, 1931 to Earl and Ila Smith and grew up on the family farm West of Conde.
Floyd was a member of the Conde American Legion for over 60 years, the VFW, served on the Beotia Township Board and Conde Elevator Board.
Floyd and his wife, Carol, farmed from 1956 until his retirement. In retirement, Floyd and Carol spent winters at their home in Yuma, Arizona. In Yuma, they made lifelong friendships and enjoyed the desert sun from November until March each year. Floyd was a passionate fisherman and spent countless days on the Missouri River fishing his special spots.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol, of Redfield, his children, Crystal (Terry) Nordholm of Fort Lupton, Colorado, Loren Smith (Sheryl Gaspar) of Conde and Larry Smith of Redfield. Grandchildren, Chase Twomey, Eric Twomey, Stacy Smith, Keri Smith and Andy Smith, Miquette (Nick) Bottom, Angelia Smith (Ray) and Devon Smith.
Great Grandchildren, Nevaeh Temple, Tihanna Temple, Micah Ortmeier, Kimber Ortmeier, Reagan Smith, Aiden Morehouse, Chance Morehouse, Aria Rae Ann Bottom, Maddox Lerew and Ellieanna Jones.
Floyd was preceded in death by his Grandson, Dawson Smith, Parents, Earl and Ila Smith, Sisters, Donna Ugland and Doris Cadman, Brothers, Robert Smith, Gene Smith, Gerald Smith and Richard Smith and Beloved Brother in Law, Kenny Hiles.
