Services for Gerald C. Larson, 71 of Groton will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 29th at St. John's Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the church from 5-8 p.m. on Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Jerry passed away December 25, 2009 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Gerald (Jerry/Mouse) C. Larson was born December 31, 1937 to Lawrence and Myrtis (Voigt) Larson in Groton, SD. He graduated from GHS in 1955 and began working for H.C. Clark. On August 30, 1959, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Schaller. They moved to Phoenix, AZ where he worked at Motorola Inc. In 1965, he returned to Groton and worked for Benny Schaller at S & A Corner until it was sold then he became parts manager at Trail Chev and Olds. In 1972, he along with three other partners built the Jungle Lanes and Lounge, selling it in 1975. He then became a substitute mail carrier in Groton until receiving an appointment at Clark, SD as a rural mail carrier. In 1985 he retreated to Groton and carried Route 2, retiring in 2005 after a disability.
Jerry was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Feather & Fin, and a charter member of Olive Grove Golf Course. He enjoyed his bowling, golf, ice fishing, hunting, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie, one son, Brad (Darliss) Larson of Groton, SD, one daughter, Stacey (Julian II) Hines of Savannah, GA. and five grandchildren, Julian III and Jerri Hines, and Rachel, Samantha, and Savanna Larson, two brothers, Allen (Lylah) Larson and Donn Larson both of Aberdeen, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Jim Pigors.
Casketbearers will be Rick Pigors, Greg Peterson, Bob Walter, Heath Giedt, Steve Schaller, Bill Schuelke and DJ Doxsee.
