Memorial services for Gertrude Ruden, 89, of Groton will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28th at the Groton United Methodist Church. Rev. Matt Richards will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later time in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Gert passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Gertrude Irene was born on August 19, 1921 to Carl and Mae (Nilsson) Larson in Columbia. She attended school in Columbia, graduating in 1939. Following high school, Gert attended Remily's Beauty School in Aberdeen. She then worked for several years at the Bobette. On February 1, 1943, Gertrude united in marriage with Richard Ruden in Groton. The couple made their home on a farm near Groton and Gert worked at a local beauty shop. She later ran a salon from her home. Dick and Gert moved into Groton in 2002.
Gert was an active member of the Groton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing cards with friends and family. She and Dick spent many wonderful years traveling the states in their motor home.
Celebrating her life through memories is her husband, Richard of Groton, three daughters, Nancy (Morris) Mueller of Rosemount, Minnesota; Char (Berle) Meyers of Hecla; Patricia (John) Larson of Apple Valley, Minnesota, six grandchildren, William (Nicole) Mueller, Teresa (Derek) Danielson, Chad (Heidi) Meyers, Corey (Tara) Meyers, Michelle (Jason) Skog, Nicolle (Eric) Hanson and seven great-grandchildren. Gert is also survived by two brothers, Alfred (Doris) Larson of Aberdeen and Melvin (Janice) Larson of Columbia.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Honorary Urnbearers will be all of Gert's Grandchildren.
