Services for Harlow Dobberpuhl, 76, of Conde will be 4:00pm, Friday, October 3rd at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ferney. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Harlow passed away September 29, 2008 at his residence.
Harlow H. Dobberpuhl was born on September 25, 1932 in Verdon to Louie and Alice (Bahr) Dobberpuhl. He attended rural school and later began farming with his brothers, Raymond and LaWayne. Harlow earned a Doctor of Diesel Mechanics Degree and began working for M. E. Harry in Ferney as well as on the farm. He united in marriage with Vivian Roettele on January 27, 1965 in Miller, SD and together they made their home on the family farm. In the early 1970's, the milk barn was built and they operated it until 1988.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife, Vivian, four children; Yvonne Lorenz of Groton, Roni (Kathy) Dobberpuhl of Conde, Valerie Baker of Eugene, Oregon, Landal (Michelle) Leonhardt of Ipswich, eleven grandchildren; Trisca, JaCinda, Joslyn, Katie, Karen, Sarah, Lance, Kalli, Angel, Austin and Sage and great-grandson, Brayton. Harlow is also survived by his sister, Arlowene (Maurice) Hitchcock of Conde, his faithful dog, Sally and overnight guest, Daisy.
Harlow was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ferney and had served as an Elder and cemetery manager. He also served on the Township Board for 34 years and was an NFO member. Harlow was active on the steering committee for WEB Water in the early 1970s. He enjoyed farming, and was a passionate supporter of the "Mikey D" Chapter founded in 1996, in memory of his grandson.
Preceding him in death were his two brothers, LaWayne and Raymond, his parents and one grandson, Mikey.
Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Harlow's Neighbors and Friends.
Casketbearers will be Allen Dobberpuhl, Dale Dobberpuhl, Marvin Dobberpuhl, Rodney Dobberpuhl, Rick Pigors, Doug Sombke, Dale Washnok and Dennis Hitchcock.
