Claremont: Mass of Christian burial for Helen Stohr, 92, of Claremont will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Groton. Father Mike Kelly will officiate.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton.

Visitation will be held at the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Helen passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Groton.

Helen Louise was born June 16, 1921, in Lidgerwood, N.D., to James and Stacey (Becvar) Pavek. She attended school in Claremont, graduating in 1938. She continued her education at Northern Normal College in Aberdeen, where she earned her teaching certificate.

On Nov. 26, 1942, she united in marriage with Emery Stohr in Aberdeen and, together, they made their home in Claremont until his death in 2002. Helen taught country school near Claremont for six years.

Helen had many varied interests. Her baked goods were often the center of many debates among her children, grandchildren, and extended family, as everyone was certain their personal favorite was her very best creation a
