Services for Howard Riedinger, 95, of Aberdeen and formerly of Claremont will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 25th at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Rev. Ryan Mutzenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the chapel for one hour prior to services.
Howard was born on September 3, 1913 in St. Louis, Missouri to Art and Margaret (Dalton) Riedinger. As a teenager, Howard moved with his father and step-mother, Gladys to Claremont where he helped on the farm for several years. They later moved to California, where Howard worked in the freight warehouse for Butler's Department Store. After his father's death, Howard and Gladys returned to South Dakota. He entered Aberdeen Health and Rehab in 1990 and was a resident there until his death on May 21, 2009.
Howard was a member of the Claremont United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing cards, ping-pong and games of horseshoe. Together with Keith Cutler, he took several bus trips to Minnesota to attend Twins baseball games. He was also a Dogers and Cardinals baseball fan. While living in Claremont, Howard enjoyed spending time with his good friends, Terry Holland, Manley Green, Doug Hinrichs and Charlie Berg.
Survivors include his two brothers; Bert Riedinger and Jack Riedinger, both of California and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his mother, father and step-mother.
