Jack Dixon

Services for Jack Dixon, 84, of Groton will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Groton under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held at the chapel from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.

Jack passed away February 13, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Groton.

Jack Lynn Dixon was born on March 30, 1929 in Savageton, Wyoming to Dean and Geneal (Smothers) Dixon. He attended school in Wyoming, South Dakota and Washington. He continued his education at Black Hills Teachers College. On April 27, 1957 he united in marriage with Lillian Hein. Together they had eight children.

Jack worked for several agencies as an insurance adjuster and later as an insurance agent.

Celebrating his life are his children: Steven (Nancy) Dixon of Fargo, ND, Sherry (Rick) Koehler of Groton, Patricia (Mike Lee) Smith of Pierre, Jackie (Dennis) Hales of Aberdeen, Michael (Karen) Dixon of Rapid City, Dianne (Rick) Schelle of Groton, Kelli (Dan Danburg) Nelson of Aberdeen, Kathy (Jason) Holm of Groton and his grandchildren: Jacob Dixon, Ryan, Ashleigh, Nikki and Katie Koehler, Chris Smith , David and Matthew Hales, Aaron and Garrett Dixon, Alex McKiver, Keegan Schelle, Heather Dixon, Becca Herther, Austin and Hailey Bieber, Tyler and Taylor Holm.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife and an infant granddaughter.

Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family.
