Jeannette passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 surrounded by her family at her home in Bella Vista.

Jeannette was born September 30, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD, to Irvin and Janice (Lilja) Fliehs. She was raised on the family farm near Claremont. Jeannette attended a one-room school house through the eighth grade where she and her brothers carried water to school and at times she was the only student in her class. She was active in 4-H as a youth and graduated from Groton High School in 1969. Jeannette was united in marriage with Robert Wegner on November 27, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton. She continued her education at South Dakota State University and graduated in 1974 with a degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development.

Jeannette taught preschool on military bases and in Lutheran schools and was a preschool director for elementary schools in Des Moines, Iowa. She especially enjoyed watching young minds grow and learn throughout her career. After moving to Groton, SD, Jeannette started her own business, Preschool on Wheels, to bring quality preschool education to in-home daycare programs. She was also co-owner of Iowa Tire Supply of Des Moines, IA, from 1982 to 1990 and New Deal Tire of Groton, SD, from 1990 to present. While living in Groton, Jeannette served on the Brown County Recycling Committee and was a founding board member of the Groton Community Foundation.

Jeannette was an avid golfer and enjoyed life best when she was on the course with her good friends and husband. She also had a love for bridge and relished the opportunity to host regular games in her home. She was a wonderful host and loved having her home filled with visiting family and friends. Jeannette deeply loved watching her grandchildren grow and thoroughly enjoyed every minute she had with them. Her favorite preschool story for her grandchildren was The Hungry Caterpillar that eventually turned into a butterfly.

Jeannette is survived by her mother Janice Fliehs of Claremont; her husband of 39 years, Robert Wegner of Bella Vista, AR; her daughter Amber (Wegner) Stumpf of Des Moines, IA; her son Matt (Janelle) Wegner of Sheboygan, WI; brothers Larry (Val) Fliehs of Groton; Gary Fliehs of Mobridge; Lorin (Julie) Fliehs of Claremont; sister Shirlee (Fliehs) Briggs of Groton; four grandchildren, Kourtni and Kassidi Stumpf, and Kaitlin and Keegan Wegner. She was preceded in death by her father Irvin Fliehs.
