Joseph Leonard Pohlkamp was born on October 20, 1957 in Buffalo, Minnesota to Andrew and Delrose (Aydt) Pohlkamp. He attended school in St. Michael, Minnesota and was employed as an iron worker for 28 years. On August 6, 1983 he was united in marriage to Barbara Brantner. The couple made their home in Buffalo, Minnesota where they raised their family. During these years, Joseph also ran a cabinet business. Following his retirement, he decided to live out his dream and move to South Dakota for fishing. A dream he accomplished before he passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2022.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and fixing all types of things. His greatest joy was his family; grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved wholeheartedly. Joseph will forever be remembered for his giving nature, smiles, laughs and sense of humor. He touched many people’s hearts and will be greatly missed.
Celebrating his life is his wife, Barbara, his children, Larry Pohlkamp, Matt (Kristen) Pohlkamp, Jennifer (Timothy) Kunze and nine grandchildren: Bryn, Madison, Brayden, Mason, Lily, Eli, Alaska, Afton and Owen. Joseph is also survived by his siblings, Daniel (Connie) Pohlkamp, Timothy (Tere) Pohlkamp, Elizabeth (Donald) Sipe, Suzanne (Danny) Reemts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, David Pohlkamp and Paul Pohlkamp and his nephew, Michael Pohlkamp.
