Leo passed away August 7, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls. He was surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.
Leo R. Lesher was born on November 16, 1950 in Britton to Clifford and Esther (Planteen) Lesher. He grew up on the family farm north of Langford and was baptized and confirmed at Highlanda Lutheran Church. Leo attended school in Langford, graduating in 1969. On February 29, 1980 he was united in marriage with Darcey Dombrowe and together they were blessed with three children. Leo worked various jobs in the area before beginning his career in 1984 at the Director of Equalization Office in Brown County. He retired in 2016.
Leo took great pride in caring for his lawn/farm and also as the caretaker for the Huffton Cemetery for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending gun shows. Leo also liked to frequent pawn shops and was an avid collector of many things. As a “jack of all trades”, he and Darcey spent many hours working on projects in the shop and around the farm. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. Leo will forever be remembered as a hard-working, kind, and gentle person
Celebrating his life is his wife, Darcey, their children, Skye (Barb) Lesher of Brookings, Luke Lesher of Aberdeen, Brooke Lesher and fiancé Kevin Hagen of Aberdeen, three grandchildren: Kaelyn, Trevor, Kelsey, his siblings, Dennis (Cyndi) Lesher of St. Paul, MN, Marilyn (Bob) Sumrall of Horse Shoe Bay, TX, Don Lesher of Langford and Doug (Brenda) Lesher of Pierpont and his nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
