Lyle Ellingson Obituary

Services for Lyle Ellingson, 75, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Conde will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16th at the United Methodist Church in Conde. Rev. Bill Duncan will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held for two hours prior to services on Friday at the church.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17th at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Pastor Laura Borman will officiate.

Lyle passed away Tuesday, April 13th at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Lyle Carl Ellingson was born on November 9, 1934 in Aberdeen to Carl and Marie (Sanders) Ellingson. He attended school in Conde and graduated in 1953. Lyle enlisted in the US Army and served from 1954-1956. He was united in marriage with MaryAnn Fjelstad on February 8, 1955 in El Paso, Texas. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to Conde where he farmed and ran Lyle's Sinclair Station. Lyle later became an agent for American General and American Family Insurance Companies. On Jan. 13, 1989, he married Shirley Anderson. Lyle had resided at South Ridge Health Care for the past 20 years.

Lyle was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. He had been active in the Elk's and Conde American Legion. Lyle loved fishing and watching Twins baseball. He coached Jr. Legion baseball in earlier years.

Celebrating his life through memories is his wife, Shirley of Sioux Falls; three children, Terry (Susan) Ellingson of Aberdeen, Vicki (Doug) Bierschbach of Brookings, Craig (Marilee) Ellingson of Avondale, Arizona, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Lyle is also survived by four step-children, Ainsley (Brian) Stanga of Lennox, Allison (Mike) Bolger of Madison, Chris (Susan) Berry of Sioux Falls, Andrea (Hector) Soto of Sioux Falls, and twelve step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant twin sister, Lila, his sister, June Knoll and his brother, Donald Ellingson.

Honorary Casketbearers will be all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Scott Ellingson, Ryan Ellingson, Chad Ellingson, Steve Bierschbach, Eric Ellingson, Devaroux Stanga and Mikhail Fredrickson.
