Services for Margaret Hubbard, 92, of Groton will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 31st at the United Methodist Church, Groton. Pastor Jan Price and Rev. Bill Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel Sunday from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm.
Margaret passed away December 26, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Margaret Amy Schoch was born April 9, 1915 in Groton, SD to Henry & Jessie (Amsden) Schoch. She attended Groton schools and on June 30, 1934 married Ronald Andrew Hubbard. After working various jobs including taking in laundry and working at the Circle Pines Motel, Margaret became the secretary to the superintendent of the Groton school until her retirement at age 72.
She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends over the years and it was a special gift to receive one of her uniquely individual afghans.
Margaret spent many summers living at her cottage on Buffalo Lake where she spent her days catching perch and bullhead. She enjoyed having company when she was there; always making sure there was fish to fry.
Margaret is survived by a son, Terry (Kathy); daughter, Karen (Dave) Berglund; a foster son, Kenneth R. (Elaine) Johnson; son-in-law, Kay D. Cutler; grandchildren, Jackie Nerland, Jim (Lisa) Cutler, David (Kay) Cutler, Nancy (Craig) Harrison, Jean (Jeff) Schiltz, Tom (Nancy) Cutler, Jeff (Dee) Hubbard, Amy (Ed) Kirchenwitz, Laurie (Mark) Orsted, and Julie (Judy) Berglund; foster grandsons, Raymond and Ronald Johnson; 19 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Schoch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald; her daughter, Theone Cutler; a great-grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Casketbearers will be Tom Cutler, Jim Cutler, David Cutler, Amy Kirchenwitz, Julie Berglund and Laurie Orsted.
