Services for Margaret Larsen, 98, of Groton will be 11:00 am, Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Groton. Pastor Elizabeth Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-8pm on Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00pm.
Margaret passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Margaret Elise Johnson was born on April 8, 1909 to Helmick and Laura (Brue) Johnson at the family homestead north of Groton. She was baptized at the First English Lutheran Church and educated through high school. Margaret married Rangvald Larsen on December 13, 1930 in Groton. They lived and farmed south of Groton for one year. In 1931 they moved to a farm northeast of Groton and remained there until 1942. At that time, they again moved south of town and continued farming until 1973, when they retired to Groton. Rangvald died October 10, 1992. Margaret continued to make her home in Groton until April of 2007 when she became a resident of Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Margaret was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Nigeria Circle. In earlier years she belonged to the Handicraft Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and baking. Margaret also did crochet and quilt work.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her two daughters; Marlis Nack of Aberdeen, Sharon (Roger) Monson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one sister, Lucille Swenson of Aberdeen, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandson and 2 great-great grandchildren. Margaret is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were here parents, her husband, two sons, Ramon Larsen and Loel Larsen, four brothers; Joe Johnson, Harry Johnson, Ernest Johnson, Gerhard Johnson, her son-in-law, Darrell Nack, two sister-in-laws; Lois Johnson and Cora Johnson and one brother-in-law, Clarence Swenson.
Casketbearers will be Lonnie Nack, Bradley Nack, Loren Larsen, Ryan Nack, Brian Monson and Lance Larsen.
