Marjorie passed away February 26, 2014 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Marjorie Norene Perkins was born on July 20, 1922 north of Claremont to Carl and Daisie (Lambert) Perkins. She attended school in the Claremont School District. Marjorie was united in marriage to Don Hinrichs on October 4, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Claremont. Together, they farmed southwest of Claremont for over sixty years. When Don passed away in 2012, she became a resident of Wheatcrest Hills in Britton.
Marjorie was a member of the Claremont United Methodist Church and ladies circle. She was the local Avon representative in the Claremont area for many years. Marjorie greatly enjoyed knitting and crocheting. There probably aren't too many people in the Claremont area that don't have an afghan, baby clothes, sweater, slippers, mittens, wash cloths, etc., that were knitted by her. She enjoyed fishing on the local lakes, in Canada, and at the Missouri River. She also enjoyed attending horse and dog racing events and family members sporting events. In later years, Marjorie liked playing lottery scratch tickets, "investing" at the casinos, putting jigsaw puzzles together and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings games on TV.
Celebrating her life are three of her children: Rex Hinrichs of Madison, Wisconsin; Rod Hinrichs of Groton; Jean (Brad) Carson of Chamberlain, her sister-in-law, Drucilla Hinrichs of Claremont, daughter-in-law, Jill Hinrichs of Claremont, her grandchildren, Brendan (Carrie) Hinrichs of Claremont; Whitney Hinrichs of Blaine, Minnesota; Donovan Carson of Chamberlain; Davis Carson of Chamberlain, great-granddaughter, Evey of Claremont and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Don, her son, Jan Hinrichs, brothers-in-law, Jack Hinrichs, Max Hinrichs, Dean Hinrichs and Jess Alberts and sisters-in-law, Melrose Alberts and Francis Hinrichs.
Casketbearers will be Bruce Sanderson, Ron Wegleitner, Kurtis Larson, Robbin Green, Barney Dombrowe and Gary Rasmussen.
Memorials can be directed to Rod Hinrichs, 1108 North 3rd St. #5, Groton, SD 57445.
