Services for Mary Jane Schott, 78, of Groton will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7th at the United Methodist Church, Groton. Rev. Matt Richards will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the chapel from 4-7 p.m. on Friday with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
Mary Jane passed away April 2, 2012 at her residence near Groton.
Mary Jane was born on March 1, 1934 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Walter and Genevieve (Conitz) Davis. She attended school in Edgeley, ND, graduating in 1951. Mary Jane continued her education at Mary College in Bismarck, North Dakota. On March 20, 1955, she united in marriage with Clifford Schott in Edgeley, North Dakota. Together they made their home near Groton. Clifford passed away in 1985, and Mary Jane continued to live and work on the farm.
Mary Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church, Groton. In earlier years, she was active in the UMW and the Nip and Tuck Extension Club. She also sat on the Gem Township Board since 1985. Mary Jane loved gardening, playing card games, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Celebrating her life are her four children; Darlys Schott of Boston Massachusetts, Diane (Don) Nissen of Groton, Loel Schott of Groton and Teri Weiland of Sioux Falls, her grandchildren: Christopher Sippel, Heather Sippel, Dylan Sippel, Chelsea Weiland, Ashley Singletary and Christina Dixon. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren: Madyson, Ethan, Chantasia, Tyran, Tessalyn, Hattie, Adelia, Aidan and her siblings: Ben Davis of Marion, ND, Philip & Shirley Davis of Fargo, ND, Norman & Kathy Davis of Harvey, ND, Clifford & Carol Davis of Mitchell, SD, William & Dee Davis of Great Falls, MT and Connie & Paul Wocelka of Owatonna, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 30 years, their infant son, Loren and infant siblings, Charlotte, Patrick, Daniel and Gail.
Honorary Casketbearers will be All of Mary Jane's family, friends and neighbors.
Casketbearers will be Lanny Torguson, Christopher Sippel, Dylan Sippel, Bill Zoellner, Thomas Davis and Rodney Boehmer.
