Maurice Harry 85, of rural Ferney died Thursday February 9, 2012 at his home.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday February 13, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ferney, Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be Sunday at the church 4-7p.m. with a 7p.m. prayer service.
Maurice was born at home in Ferney to parents Alma (Bahr) and Edmund Harry. He was the youngest of six children. His early years were spent in Ferney where his father was Postmaster and ran a general store.
Maurice graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1944, joined the Army in May of 1945 and was married to Arminta Badger on October 24, 1945. He was discharged from the Army and returned to Ferney where he farmed for over 65 years. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ferney. He served on the boards of the church, Farmers Union Co-op, East Hanson Township, and the Brown County FMHA at various times.
The most important things in Maurice's life were his family and farming. At the time of his death he was at home in hospice care, surrounded by his family and the things he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Virginia (Art) Mielke, Marvin (Josephine), Carroll, Vernita and Donald.
He is survived by his wife Arminta, one sister-in-law, Kay Harry, his children Sandra (Glen) Hanson, Dennis (Julie) Harry, Larry (Kathy) Harry, Cheryl (Donn) Cutler, and Mike (Janene) Harry. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
