Services for Melrose Alberts, 92, of Groton and formerly of Claremont will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 27th at the United Methodist Church, Claremont. Rev. Ryan Mutzenberger will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the church from 4-8pm on Friday with a prayer service at 7:00pm.
Melrose passed away October 23, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Groton.
Melrose Adeline Hinrichs was born on October 26, 1914 in Claremont to John and Mabel (Terry) Hinrichs. She attended school in Claremont and following graduation, she continued her education at Northern. Melrose received her teaching certificate and taught for 12 years in the Claremont area. She united in marriage with Jesse Alberts on January 4, 1940 and together they made their home in Putney, later moving into Claremont. Melrose worked at First State Bank in Claremont for forty years, before retiring. Jesse passed away in August of 1982, and Melrose became a resident of Golden Living Center in March of 2002.
Melrose was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Claremont. She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. Melrose enjoyed embroidery work, crocheting and scrap booking. In earlier years, she was active in the Claremont Community Club, Bridge and Sewing Clubs and the Putney Ladies Aid.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her brothers; Don (Marjorie) Hinrichs of Claremont, Dean (Drucilla) Hinrichs of Claremont, three sister-in-laws, Arliss Alberts of Aberdeen, Lusena Manning of Aberdeen, Mavis (Julius) Kirschenmann of Aberdeen, two brother-in-laws, Raymond (Eunice) Alberts of Groton and George (Doris) Alberts of Groton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers; Max Hinrichs and Jackie Hinrichs, one infant brother, two nephews, two sister-in-laws, Leona Jensen and Meda Alberts and three brother-in-laws, Clarence Alberts, Kenneth Alberts and Stewart Manning.
Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Melrose's great nieces and nephews.
