Mass of Christian Burial for Neill Lund, DVM, 53, of Groton will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 29th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. Father David Janes will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the church from 4-8pm on Monday with a wake service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Neill passed away April 26, 2008 at his residence in Groton.
Neill LeRoy Lund was born on May 28, 1954 in Carrington, North Dakota to Edson and Ruthie (Hjelseth) Lund. He attended school in Carrington, graduating in 1972. He continued his education at North Dakota State University and later attended Iowa State University, where he received his degree in Veterinary Medicine. Neill was united in marriage with Mary Baldridge on February 26, 1977 in Vinton, Iowa. The couple made their first home in Steele, North Dakota before moving to Groton the following year. Neill worked at the Groton Veterinary Clinic until 2001 when he retired due to health reasons.
Neill was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. He had been active in Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, and the Barbershop Choir. He enjoyed showing cattle, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife, Mary; six children; Heather (Trent) Traphagen of Aberdeen, Joshua Lund of New Castle, Wyoming, Jeremy Lund of Pierre, Christopher (Jennifer) Lund of Aberdeen, Laura Lund and fiancAC. Will Kelsey of Tucson, Arizona, Gabrielle Lund of Groton; four grandchildren; Tristan, Gracie Lane and Faith Traphagen and Riley Lund. Neill is also survived by his brother, Terry Lund of Bowbells, North Dakota and his sister, Robin (Brent) Christ of Wimbledon, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers will be John Ries, Steve Smith, Jeff Stolle, Tom Beacom, Jim Baldridge and Joe Baldridge.
