Pat Sanderson

Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia "Pat" Sanderson, 79, of Groton will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 1st at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. Father Mike Kelley will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held at the church from 5-7 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Pat passed away August 28, 2009 at her home in Groton with her four daughters by her side after a long battle with Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Patricia Ann Rix was born April 4, 1930 to Wilbur and Edna (Blair) Rix . She attended Groton Schools and graduated in 1948. She married Wayne Sanderson on September 8, 1948. They farmed together for 35 years in the Groton area. After his death Pat continued to farm with her son-in-laws until her retirement. She was a member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling with the ladies, and attending sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Blessed to have shared her life are her four daughters, Mrs. Emmet (Karen) Bakke, Marshall, Minn.; Mrs. Larry (Kathy)Harry, Mrs. Jerry (Peggy) Locke, and Mrs. Tom (Patti) Woods all of Groton; one sister Peg Bach, Minneapolis Minn. 12 Grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; Katelyn Bakke, Dawson Bakke, Paige, Drew and Cale Harry, Shallyn Foertsch, Allyssa, Jerica and Sydney Locke, Reese and Avery Schuneman and special friend, Les Nehls.

Pat will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She loved her coffee groups, card clubs, relative and class reunions. Pat's unconditional love for her family will live on forever.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 35 years, one sister Mary Donovan, one brother Robert Rix, and one great-grandchild Samuel Locke.

Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Eric Harry, Matt Locke, Joe Foertsch, all of Groton, Mitchell Locke of Aberdeen, Ryan Bakke of Ft. Hood, Texas, Erich Bakke of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Bryan Asche of Brookings and Tom Schuneman of Milbank.

Honorary Casketbearers will be her granddaughters, Teri Foertsch, Jodie Harry, Tammy Locke, Brianna, Mariah and Sarah Woods, all of Groton, Melissa Schuneman of Milbank, Mickie Locke of Sioux Falls, Kris Asche of Brookings, and Tonya Bakke of Ft. Hood, Texas.
