Randall Deen Merry was born on November 7, 1943 in Hammond, Indiana to Carl Deen and Janice (Day) Merry. He was blessed with a large family; 7 sisters and one brother. As a young child, the family moved to the Aberdeen area where Randall attended school. Randall served in the Army for a time before becoming a self-taught welder in the Chicago area. Randall was united in marriage with Lillian Kiefer on February 19, 1966 in Webster. Together they were blessed with five children. They made their home in Aberdeen until moving to Groton in 1988.
