Services for Ray Pitschka, 90, of Aberdeen and formerly of Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21st at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Pastor Elizabeth Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow on Monday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minnesota under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the chapel for one hour prior to services on Friday.
Ray passed away February 18, 2014 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Raymond Henry was born on April 24, 1934 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to Henry and Selma (Yozamp) Pitschka. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1941 and was honorably discharged in July of 1944. On May 8, 1943 he was united in marriage with Joyce Jeske and together they made their home in Minnesota. They were blessed with two children, Lyndon and Twila. Ray worked in several different fields throughout his life and was known to be a 'jack of all trades'. In later years, he began a career in photography. After his retirement, he moved from Nebraska to South Dakota to be closer to his daughter and family.
Celebrating his life is his daughter, Twila (Michael) Jacobson of Aberdeen, his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Pitschka of Omaha, NE, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his brother, Roger (Darlene) Yozamp and two sisters-in-law, Adeline Pitschka and Mary Jane Pitschka.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Joyce, his son, Lyndon Ray, his sister, Josephine 'Dolly' Kurtilla and two brothers, Harold and Bryant.
