Renee McKiver

Mass of Christian Burial for Renee McKiver, 60, of Groton will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Groton. Father Mike Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Renee passed away August 31, 2013, surrounded by her family at home.

Renee was born on October 14, 1952 to Arthur & Ruth (Johnson) Daly. Her mother passed away in 1958, leaving her brothers and sister to be raised by their Dad. Renee attended school at Daly Corner through the 8th grade. She graduated from Groton High School in 1970 and continued her education at Northern State College. On September 15, 1973, she united in marriage with Jake McKiver. They were blessed with three healthy children, Steven in 1974, Kristi in 1976 and Katie in 1980.

Renee worked at Parkview Nursery for several years and then returned to Northern State University in 1990. She earned her Commercial Art Degree in 1993. That same year, she and Patti Daly opened Four Seasons Gift Shop in Groton and ran the business until 2000. Many lasting friendships were formed during these years. Renee later worked at the Granary Outreach, Colonial Rose and Kessler's Floral.

One of the most wonderful experiences imaginable for Renee was becoming a grandmother to Jocelyn, Shaylee, Drake, Dacey and Dane.

Renee enjoyed gardening, baking, painting and being at home. She loved to be with family and friends and adored her grandchildren.

Celebrating her life is her husband, Jake; son, Steven (Audrey) McKiver of West Fargo; daughters; Kristi (Ben) Peterson of Groton and Katie (Chad) Kampa of Groton, grandchildren: Jocelyn, Shaylee and Drake Peterson, Dacey & Dane Kampa. Renee is also survived by her sister, Lynette (Larry) Fransen of Casper, Wyoming; brothers, Lonnie (Dixie) Daly of Aberdeen; Steve (Patti) Daly of Columbia; brother-in-laws, Allen (Sherry) McKiver of Groton; Bill McKiver of Groton; sister-in-laws, Sharon (Larry) Sombke of Groton; Nancy (Merle) Walter of Arlington; Gloria (Bernie) Huber of Mound City; Carla Ronning of Groton; Gail (John) Zeck of Groton and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Preceding her in death were her parents and parent-in-laws, Marjorie and Dale McKiver, her grandparents, Charlie & Edith Daly and Ralph & Elva Johnson and a grandson, Christian Allen McKiver.

Honorary Casketbearers will be her Nieces, Four Season's Girls and the Class of 1970.

Casketbearers will be Dan Fransen, Brian Fransen, Riley Fransen, Mike Daly, Andy Daly, A.J. McKiver, Travis McKiver, Clint Sombke, Blake Ronning and Trevor Zeck.
