Rick Morris

Memorial services for Rick "Moose" Morris, 40 of Groton will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 9th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Jeff Willock and Pastor Elizabeth Johnson will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the church from 4-8 p.m., on Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for two hours prior to the service on Friday.

Rick passed away September 5, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Richard C. Morris, Jr. was born on March 13, 1971 in Britton, to Richard "Dick" and Barbara (Johnson) Morris. Rick attended school in Britton, graduating in 1989. He continued his education at Northern State University, earning a 2 year degree in Socializing. Rick was fondly known to his grade school, high school and college friends as "Moose." On May 1, 1999 he was united in marriage with Becky Erickson in Rutland, North Dakota and they were blessed with two boys, Alex and Nick. Rick was employed at Aberdeen Federal Credit Union prior to his illness.

Rick enjoyed bowling and playing golf, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Celebrating his life are his wife and children, his mother, Barb Morris of Britton, his brother, Jeff (Jody) Morris of Britton, his mother and father-in-law, Ann and Lyle Erickson of Rutland, ND; a sister-in-law, Tammy (Chris) Fagerland of Langford; a brother-in-law, Rodney (Andrea) Erickson of Rutland, ND and nieces, Megan Morris, Abby and Maddy Erickson and nephews, Tyson Morris, Chris Paulson, and Kaleb Pitkin. Rick is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Waiting to greet him in heaven are his Dad, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his beloved pets.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Streier, Darren Torrence, Steve Young, Jason Devine, Cameron Mattson, Jared Poppen, Mike Smith, and Tom Kulesa.

The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.

To honor Rick's love for golf, please dress in golf/casual attire for both Prayer Service and Funeral.
