Services for Ruth Raap, 86, of Pierpont will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22nd at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pierpont. Pastor Paul Kosel will officiate. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery, Pierpont under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held at the church for two hours prior to the service.
Ruth passed away October 17, 2013 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.
Ruth Mildred was born on August 5, 1927 to Yetsie and Anna (Mohaw) Doktor in
Bristol. She attended and graduated from Andover High School. Ruth worked at the drug store in Andover for several years before uniting in marriage with Marvin Raap on July 2, 1953. Together they made their home on the family farm and were blessed with three children. Ruth later worked at the Pierpont General Store, retiring after 14 years. Marvin passed away in February of 1999.
Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting with the ladies circle. She enjoyed playing yahtze and gardening in earlier years.
Celebrating her life are her children, Gary Raap of Pierpont; Douglas (Jasmin) Raap of Oberursel, Germany; Lori (Carl) Klaudt of Sioux Falls and three grandchildren: Andrew, Autumn and Emily.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers, 1 half-brother and 2 half-sisters.
Casketbearers will be Tom Woods, Andrew Klaudt, Jon Raap, Jerry Mork, Kevin Holler and Morgan Holler.
Honorary casketbearers are her many friends and family.
Memorials may be directed to the Homer Cemetery, Pierpont or to the charity of your choice.
