Sondra passed away Friday, December 03, 2010 at The Golden Living Center in Ipswich.
"Sonnie" was born on March 2, 1932 in Groton to Alfred and Luree (Taylor) Paetznick. She attended school in Groton and continued her education at Northern State College. On October 22, 1954 she was united in marriage with Winston B. Odland in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they made their home in Pittsburgh, moving many times during his career and eventually coming back to South Dakota. Sonnie's smile and bubbly personality enchanted friends in several communities they called home over the years. However, the cabin at Enemy Swim was dearest to her heart. At first it had no running water but she made it memorable for family and friends. Nothing was better than Sonnie's brownies, a wet bathing suit, and the sound of her laughter.
Sonnie was a member of Questers, P.E.O, Aberdeen Art's Council, the Board of the Aberdeen Community Theatre, a past President of the S.D. Medical Auxiliary and a Friend of the Arts.
She is remembered fondly by her Aberdeen Community Theatre family where she appeared on stage in "The Gin Game", "Oklahoma", " Steel Magnolias" and
"Marvin's Room". Sonnie was always helping out in the theatre office, backstage and there she would be with a jug of Clorox in hand on cleaning days.
Celebrating her life through memories is her husband, Winston of Ipswich, four children, Susan L. (Curt) Ewinger of Aberdeen; Bryant W. Odland (Debbie Hofer) of Roscoe; Mary Ann Stanley of Charlotte, North Carolina; Bradly A. Odland (Mary Sargent) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her sister, Sheila (Leonard) Garness of Enemy Swim; seven grandchildren, Winston C. Ewinger, Meredith L. Ewinger, Whitney M. Ewinger(John Buchanan), Russell D. Holler, Kirk B. Holler, Bennett Holler, Hannah L. Odland and two great-grandsons, Jack and Charlie Buchanan.
