Services for Velma Samuel, 78, of Scottsdale, Arizona and formerly of Groton will be 10:00 am, Friday, October 10th at the First Presbyterian Church in Groton. Rev. James Clarke will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.
Velma passed away October 05, 2008 at Mimosa Springs Assisted Living in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Velma Kay Radke was born in Groton on May 4, 1930 to William A. & Eva (Inglis) Radke. She attended Groton High School and Northern Teachers College. On August 25, 1948 she united in marriage with Harold Samuel. Velma taught school in Putney and worked for 16 years as the bookkeeper for First National Bank in Groton. She moved to Arizona in 1986.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Debra (Henry) Rose of Mesa, Arizona, one granddaughter, Melisa Rose of Houston, TX and her sister, Phyllis (Thomas) Saunders of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Marlys, and two brothers; William & Verrill.
Casketbearers will be Chuck Dresbach, Steve Dresbach, Larry Ott, Harlan Radke, Jr., Jeff Hilgemann and Eddy Nehls.
