Services for Verne McCullough, 89, of Groton will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 17th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton. Rev. Craig Grams will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. www.paetznick-garness.com
Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7pm on Sunday with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday.
Verne passed away March 13, 2008 at Primrose Cottages, Aberdeen.
Verne Frank McCullough was born on November 14, 1918 to Roy and Eva (Brooks) McCullough near Whitefish, MT. He attended school in Groton and graduated in 1938. Verne united in marriage with Beverly Erdmann on November 21, 1939 at the Ferney Erdmann farm. The couple made their home on a farm near Claremont for many years and later moved to Groton in 1979. Together they shared 68 years of marriage.
Verne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Groton. He held various positions within the church and had also served on the Groton City Council. Verne enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a knack for growing crops, flowers and vegetables. His "green-thumb" will always be remembered by his family and friends.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife, Beverly of Aberdeen, three sons; Greg & Sue Ann McCullough of Lidgerwood, North Dakota, David & Patsy McCullough of Nevada, Missouri, Gene & Georgia McCullough of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, six grandchildren; Kevin McCullough, Brenda McCullough Clark, Elizabeth McCullough Stratman, Jennifer McCullough Westphal, Jason McCullough, Marcy McCullough Reider and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Wayne McCullough.
