Memorial Services for Violet Johnson, 82, of Pierpont will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 27th at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Langford. Rev. Charles Bunk will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Homer Cemetery, Pierpont.
Visitation will be held at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
Violet passed away March 21, 2011 at her residence near Pierpont.
Violet Louise was born on September 24, 1928 in Nutley Township to Carl and Clara (Moen) Storley. She attended country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1946. Violet continued her education at Northern State Teaching College in Aberdeen South Dakota, earning a degree in Education. She taught school in Aberdeen, Webster, Pierpont and later worked as a substitute teacher in Langford. On September 19, 1953, she united in marriage with Richard Johnson at Saran Lutheran Church, rural Roslyn. Together they made their home near Pierpont.
Violet was a member of Langford Lutheran Church and had been active in
Ladies Aide and Bible Study. She also belonged to the Red Hat Ladies and in earlier years, was active as a 4-H Leader. Violet enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, sewing, reading and golf.
Celebrating her life through memories are her five children, Warren Johnson and fiancAC., Colleen Thomas of Rapid City; Mark & Audrey Johnson of Pierpont; Jayne & Mark Tillema of Simi Valley California; Scott & Roxanne Johnson of Allen, Texas; Kristin & Kevin Huether of Simi Valley, California, ten grandchildren, Erin Johnson, Jamie Hurley, Shane Hurley, Sarah Tillema, Logan Tillema, Rachel Tillema, Connor Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Mason Huether, Grant Huether and two great-grandchildren, Aubrianna and Graydon Hurley. Violet is also survived by her sister, Alice (Don) Miller and two sister-in-laws, Connie Myren and Kathryn Potter.
Preceding her in death were here parents, her husband, Richard (Red) Johnson, an infant daughter, Ann Louise, one brother, Ingvald Storley and an infant sister, Alyce Storley.
Memorials may be directed to Homer Cemetery or Avera North Plains Hospice.
