Services for Wava Thomas, 84 of Conde will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 8th at the United Methodist Church, Conde. Rev. Sheila Richards and Pastor Jan Price will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at the chapel from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and will continue at 4:00 p.m. at the church in Conde. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Wava passed away April 2, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Groton.
Wava Dell Morrill was born near Conde on January 27, 1926 to Henry Calvin and Lela Pearl (Brant) Morrill. She attended school in Conde, graduating in 1943. On November 20, 1942, she was united in marriage with Howard "Bill" Thomas, Jr. in Redfield. Together they made their home on a farm near Conde and moved into Conde in 1978.
Wava attended the United Methodist Church in Conde. She was active in Eastern Star and was a 65 year member. She enjoyed not only her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also those from the community. Her cookie jar was seldom empty and her home was always open to visitors of all ages. Wava was well known for her homemade bread and donuts and enjoyed sharing them with others. She will be remembered as a loving wife of 65 years, and a caring mother and grandmother.
Celebrating her life through memories are her children; Nancy (Garry) Staley of Frederick, Maryland, Becky (Ron) Bawek of Conde, Scott (Carol) Thomas of Groton, Jeff (Dianne) Thomas of Conde, Lori (Ron) Westby of Groton, Jean (Ron) Worlie of Conde and Joni (Matt) Groeblinghoff of Groton. Wava is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, one sister, Elaine Reiners and her brother, Donald Morrill.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Ann Miles, Eva Lyren, Donna Barnes, Lila Olson and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be Jeff Miles, Harold Ewing, Robert DeVine, Kent Holsten, Don Reiners and Raymond Ondell.
